We invite you to read the report of the study entitled "Energy Poverty in the Lodz Voivodeship", which was carried out by experts from the Institute of Structural Research. The results of the report present the analysis of the data, questionnaire study, qualitative analysis, the content of interviews and consultations with stakeholders of the study. Its main goal was to estimate the scale and characteristics of energy poverty in the Lodz Voivodeship, together with the formulation of recommendations for institutions implementing public policies addressed to the study group.
The analysis of energy poverty in the Lodz Voivodeship showed that practically every 10th household is affected by this problem depending on the adopted indicator. Most of them experience energy poverty because of high spending on energy.
The highest probability of occurrence of energy poverty concerns those households which:
- use individual heating systems,
- are located in buildings built before 1961 (especially single family houses),
- have a pension or social benefits as their main source of income,
- are located in rural areas,
- are run by one person (alone).
The causes of energy poverty among the surveyed households are varied. The buildings were most often in poor technical condition and heated with solid fuels. In the dwellings of the energy poor, there were co-occurring problems with the electrical installation (failure), water heating (price), drying clothes (moisture, fungus) and maintaining an adequate temperature in the summer (overheating).
